KeySearch started as a cheap, no-frills keyword tool for bloggers who found Ahrefs overwhelming. It has since grown into a suite: keyword research, competitor analysis, rank tracking, an SEO auditor, and an AI writing assistant, all under one subscription. The core pitch has not changed, though. Two flat tiers, no credit system to ration, no per-feature paywalls.

I've used it for 14 months now, and the interface is genuinely one of its strengths. Everything sits right where you'd expect, and even on a first visit there's not much of a learning curve.

Keyword lists come with the essentials, search volume, CPC, PPC, and a color-coded difficulty score, plus filters that make it quick to isolate low-competition terms worth targeting.

Deep Dive adds extra metrics on top of the basics, Trend, Est. Links, DA, and Ranking Pages, giving a fuller read on a keyword's real potential alongside related terms.

Quick Difficulty lets you check up to 50 keywords at once for volume, CPC, PPC and KD, useful for triaging a long list down to what's actually worth pursuing. One real annoyance: there's no paste or upload option, every keyword goes in manually, comma-separated. It's a small thing that gets old fast on a big list.

Deep Analysis is where KeySearch actually shines. It shows how a keyword has trended over time, how strong the ranking pages are, and a list of LSI keywords, genuinely useful for visualizing how competitive a SERP really is.

Brainstorm surfaces a large batch of keyword ideas almost instantly, and I lean on it for long-tail ideas specifically. My one wish: the suggestions don't come with metrics attached, so you end up copying candidates over to Keyword Research to check them properly, which compounds the no-paste issue above.

On the competitor side, Competitor Gap Analysis bundles a few genuinely useful tools together.

Explorer gives a full domain overview, domain strength, organic keywords, backlinks, referring domains, in one detailed report with visualizations. My only gripe is that you can't add multiple domains for a side-by-side view like Semrush allows, comparative analysis here has to be done manually.

The Competitor Gap tool itself compares your domain against up to 3 competitors to surface keywords they rank for that you don't, down to the exact URL where they're using each term.

URL Metrics compares up to 200 URLs at once, PA, DA, DS, links, authority, and more, in a single table. I use it to spot patterns, average links, traffic, across competitors in a given space.

You can also pull the full list of keywords a competitor domain ranks for, a solid way to reverse-engineer their overall keyword strategy.

Rank Tracker gives a solid high-level snapshot of how your pages are performing for the keywords you're tracking, with email alerts when something moves. It's noticeably less detailed than Google Search Console though, fine for a quick check, thinner if you want real depth.

The backlink module is basic by design, backlink and referring domain counts for your site and competitors, enough to start building an outreach list or spot sites linking to rivals but not you. It's not close to a dedicated backlink platform, but for the price, it's something.

Site Audit gives a fast technical health check, an overall score plus a prioritized list of issues, broken into Site Level, Links, Meta/Tags, Title Tags, and Content sections. It's genuinely useful for a quick pass, but I'd treat it as a starting point rather than a substitute for a deeper audit tool.

The Content Assistant takes a target keyword and suggests must-use terms, related phrases, and common questions pulled from top-ranking pages, a decent way to make sure a draft covers the essentials. It occasionally has formatting quirks when you copy text into your CMS, and it's a guide rather than a full content generator.

Foresight, the AI engine that reads your site's niche and rankings, is the newest addition and it's still labeled Beta. It's genuinely promising as a way to suggest keywords you have a realistic shot at, and it'll draft an outline and a first pass at content too, but the output needs real editing before it's publishable. It's Pro-plan only.

On pricing, Starter runs $24/month ($20/month billed annually) with 200 daily keyword searches and basic rank tracking. Pro is $48/month ($40/month annual) with 500 searches and Foresight included.

Comparison of SEO plans: Starter at $24 and Pro at $48 with features listed.

Where KeySearch still shows its budget roots is depth. The keyword database is smaller than Ahrefs or Semrush. For a solo blogger or small site on a tight budget, that's fine. For an agency managing client reporting, it likely isn't enough.

What KeySearch does well, and where it falls short

Strengths

  • Two flat tiers, full toolset on both, no credit system to manage
  • Foresight ties suggestions to your own site rather than generic search volume
  • Meaningfully cheaper than Ahrefs or Semrush for the core keyword workflow

Limitations

  • Keyword database is smaller than the major suites
  • Thin third-party review coverage compared to established competitors
  • AI-drafted content needs real editing before it is publishable

KeySearch pricing

Both tiers include the full toolset — keyword research, competitor analysis, rank tracking, SEO audits, and the AI editor. Foresight is Pro-only.

Verdict

Use KeySearch

  • You like the idea of suggestions tied to your own site's actual rankings, not just generic search volume.
  • You need keyword research, rank tracking and a basic site audit without paying Ahrefs or Semrush prices.

Skip KeySearch

  • You need the largest possible keyword database; Ahrefs and Semrush both index more.

  • You rely heavily on third-party reviews to vet a tool; coverage here is thinner than established competitors.
