Bright Data's SERP API returns live search results from Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, Yandex, Baidu, Yahoo and Naver. On Google it offers search, shopping, maps, hotels, images, trends, reviews, news, flights, ads, videos and jobs result types, delivered as parsed JSON, Markdown or raw HTML.

A brd_ai_overview parameter increases the likelihood of getting Google's AI Overviews in a response. The playground also lists separate answer-engine scraping for ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Grok and Copilot. SERP API is one product inside the wider Bright Data platform, which also offers proxy networks, a Web Unlocker, Browser API, ready-made scrapers and datasets.

Bright Data handles proxy management, browser rendering and CAPTCHA solving, and targets 195 countries with city-level targeting. Synchronous responses are described as under 5 seconds, with a faster top-10 parser and an on-request ultra-fast endpoint for Google and Bing.

Async mode is recommended for 1,000+ queries, results are retrievable free for 48 hours, and are usually ready in about 5 minutes. Batch and scheduled collection, webhook or API delivery and unlimited concurrency are included on every plan.

It fits teams that need several search engines, geo-targeting or very high volume with enterprise support, SLAs and SSO. The trade-offs are cost and complexity: the entry subscription is $499/month, pay-as-you-go at $1.50 per 1K requests is pricier than budget Google-only APIs, and the wider platform has far more options than a team that only needs Google organic results will use.

What you get with Bright Data SERP API

Seven search engines

Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, Yandex, Baidu, Yahoo and Naver are supported through the same infrastructure and geo-targeting.

195-country and city-level targeting

Requests can be sent as a real user from any country, with city-level targeting, language and device settings.

Async and batch collection

Async mode bills only the send request, stores results for 48 hours, and suits jobs of 1,000+ queries; batch and scheduled collection are included.

JSON, Markdown or HTML output

Parsed JSON for applications, Markdown for LLM and agent use, or raw HTML for custom parsing.

Google AI Overviews parameter

Setting brd_ai_overview=2 raises the chance of receiving Google's AI Overview block in the response.

What Bright Data SERP API does well, and where it falls short

Strengths

  • Seven engines, including Bing, Yandex, Baidu and Naver, from one API
  • 195-country coverage with city-level targeting at no extra charge
  • Recurring free tier of 5K requests per month with no credit card
  • Billed only for successfully delivered requests; no charge for failures
  • Async, batch and scheduled collection with unlimited concurrency on all plans

Limitations

  • Pay-as-you-go rate of $1.50 per 1K requests is higher than Google-only low-cost APIs
  • AI Overviews are raised by a parameter rather than guaranteed, appearing in roughly 15 to 20 percent of results
  • Part of a large proxy and scraping platform, so setup and billing are more involved than a single-purpose SERP API

Bright Data SERP API pricing

Verdict

Use Bright Data SERP API

  • Multi-engine rank tracking across Google, Bing, Yandex and other engines
  • Local and international SEO checks with country or city-level geo-targeting
  • High-volume overnight batch collection of SERP data via async mode
  • Feeding LLM agents with Markdown search results

Skip Bright Data SERP API

  • Only Google organic results are needed and per-query cost is the main concern
  • A sub-$100 monthly budget rules out the $499 entry subscription
  • A small hobby project does not need enterprise SLAs, SSO or account management
